Hello,
Welcome to my English 1103 E-portfolio.
This portfolio is to help me understand my own processes in thinking, creating and writing. Also, this will demonstrate how I’ve progressed throughout this semester and the knowledge I’ve gained. My portfolio will contain several samples of my writing. These samples will show the various stages of my process, including invention, writing, revising, and reflection.
Thank you for your time,
Ashley Duggins
The Portfolio
This semester for my extended inquiry project I explored how political rhetoric has changed with the invention of new technologies, with an emphasis on if Web 2.0 has made political rhetoric more violent.
My interest in this topic stems from my major, Political Science and an obsession with reading I’ve had from 8 years old. From this inquiry I hoped to learn what constitutes normal linguistic change and how technological advances accelerate this process.
Part of my decision to research political rhetoric is due to the recent shooting a politician, Gabby Giffords, in Tucson, Arizona, and its attribution to violent political rhetoric. Also, whether we are conscious of it or not, political rhetoric shapes our opinions of politicians and political processes.
